With over 30 years of experience in education, Ginny Bootman has dedicated her career to making a positive difference in the lives of children, families and those working within schools.
Throughout her teaching career, Ginny has worked with children across the entire primary age range, from Nursery through to Year 6. She has held a variety of leadership roles, including Senior Leader, Headteacher and SENCO, working across four primary schools in Northamptonshire.
More recently, Ginny has expanded her passion for supporting others by qualifying as a Life Coach with The Coaching Academy, bringing together her wealth of educational experience, understanding of relationships and genuine desire to help people thrive.
At the heart of everything Ginny does is one simple but powerful mantra:
“Follow the Empathy Road.”
Ginny firmly believes that relationships are at the heart of everything we do, particularly within education. Whether working with children, staff, parents or fellow professionals, she believes that kindness, empathy, understanding and connection are the foundations upon which positive experiences and meaningful change are built.
Whether you hear Ginny on her podcast, Catching Up with Sarah, read her book, Independent Thinking on Being a SENCO, or listen to her speaking at a conference, one thing remains constant: her belief in the power of empathy.
As Ginny often says:
“If I were a stick of rock, I’d have ‘Follow the Empathy Road’ written all the way through me!”
And she means it.
Everything Ginny does comes from the heart. She is passionate about walking alongside others, listening without judgement, offering encouragement and helping people find their own way forward. Her approach is not about telling people what to do, but about empowering them to recognise their strengths, explore possibilities and move forward with confidence.
One of Ginny’s favourite questions, and one she encourages others to reflect upon, is:
“If I put myself in that person’s shoes, would I want to experience what I’m about to give them?”
It is a simple question, but one that can transform the way we communicate, lead, support and build relationships.
For Ginny, empathy isn’t simply something we talk about. It is something we live, something we demonstrate through our actions, and something that has the power to make a lasting difference.
Whether she’s working in education, coaching individuals, writing or speaking, Ginny’s message remains the same:
Follow the Empathy Road.
